About Us

The MSA is a branch of the Muslim Students’ Association of USA and Canada
and is affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and
the Islamic Community of Bryan/College Station (ICBCS).

Purpose

The
purpose of the MSA will be to serve the best interest of Islam and
Muslims of Texas A & M University. Towards this end, the MSA shall:

  1. Promote unity and joint action among the Muslims.
  2. Conduct religious, social, cultural, and other activities in the best traditions of Islam.
  3. Arrange and hold congregational prayers and Islamic festivals at appropriate times.
  4. Present Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims and promote good relations and understanding between them.
  5. Seek appropriate means to make the Islamic teachings known to all interested people.

Membership

There shall be two categories of membership in the MSA:

  1. Regular members: Will be open to Muslim
    students at TAMU and all other Muslims willing to promote the
    objectives of the MSA. All members of the ICBCS are automatically
    members of the MSA and vice versa.
  2. Honorary members: Will be open to all non-members interested in the MSA.

Only regular members shall constitute the General
Assembly (GA), and only the GA may vote for elections and on
constitutional amendments. Membership dues shall be collected annually
in accordance to the ICBCS procedures.

Election

The general assembly shall elect the president of the
MSA in duly convened meeting during the month of November by secret
ballot for a term of a year beginning in January. The MSA president
shall appoint the other officers subject to the approval of the ICBCS
Executive committee.


If the quorum requirements (50% of regular members) are not fulfilled
in an election meeting as in article VII, another GA meeting shall be
called for within one month.
